  1. I visited the island recently (February 2013), helping one of my colleagues with a bit of lizard work and really just wanted to commend the society on your incredible restoration achievements. To achieve planting on the scale MRS has and in such a short time is astonishing (not to mention the establishment of North Island Kiwi, whitehead, NZ dotteral, Duvachelle skink populations). I was quite unprepared also for the sheer beauty of the place and, thanks to Toby and Shans efforts, the wonderful state of the facilities and tracks. So thanks for making it such a special place. I only regret as Council’s freshwater support, that I have no reason to visit the Island in a professional capacity. I would however be interested in travelling to Motuora on one of your next volunteer planting/weeding days. Would you mind emailing me with this year’s volunteer dates.

    Many thanks
